James R Wong, M.D., graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School where he became one of the few honor graduates of his year. He practiced a year of internal medicine at the New England Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and continued with four more years of specialty training in Radiation Oncology at the Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy.

During his 15 years at Harvard, Dr. Wong excelled in both clinical and academic medicine. He published many articles in leading scientific journals including the extremely prestigious Proceeding of the National Academy of Science, Cell, Journal of Biochemistry, and Cancer Research.

After leaving Harvard, Dr. Wong joined The New York Hospital, Cornell University Medical College, where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Radiology. He specialized in the treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, head and neck cancers, brain tumors and prostate cancer. At the Stich Radiation Center of New York Hospital, he was in charge of Radiation Therapy brain tumors, Stereotactic Radiosurgery. He was also the director of Radiation Oncology Fellows and the director of Radiation Oncology Research at The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center.

In 1997, Dr. Wong was named chair of Radiation Oncology at Morristown Memorial Hospital where he presided over the reorganization and development of the new Department of Radiation Oncology. In 1998, Dr. Wong was appointed Associate Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons. In 2004, Dr. Wong was appointed by Governor McGreevy to the task force on the Prevention, Detection, and Treatment of Cancer.
